The idea of an organization that provided financial support for last-minute airfare came to our Founder, Nicolle, after the devastating loss of her Great Aunt in 2016. With no available support for the urgent and expensive airfare, she had missed the opportunity to be by her Aunt’s side in her final moments. The loss of this final goodbye weighed heavy on our Founder’s heart and added an extra layer of grief she carried for years to come.

After the separation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual funerals, and loved ones dying in isolation, Nicolle saw the need more than ever to create the organization she once needed so badly. Built on the importance of family and connection, Families In Flight was established in 2021.

Everyone should have the right to say goodbye to their loved ones, and we are committed to providing financial support for last-minute airfare. We understand the impact of not being able to be by a family member's side in their final moments, and we strive to ensure that no one ever has to go through that experience again.
